“Tone as the Carrier of Intent”

Most speaking presumes a one-way communication channel or event, as if listening is passive. Perhaps it's not. Additionally, whether the communication "lands" for the listener seems random and the responsibility of the listener; few speakers (either one-on-one or group situations) assume responsibility for how a communication lands or is received. The depth and power of communication is three-fold: the quality of speaking, the quality of listening and the intent of the speaker. This talk will aim to bridge all three philosophically and practically.
